Favorite TV Shows of 2017

As I look back on the last year in television, I think this might be the best year of TV ever. There were so many quality shows that I had to expand my usual top ten list to fifteen. I believe, with so many channels and providers offering original content, we are in a golden age of television. I hope that highlighting my favorites, you might give one of them a try and find a new favorite yourself.

To stake the obvious, I didn’t watch every TV show so this is an incomplete sampling. There are only so many hours in the day. Without further ado, here are my favorite television shows of 2017.

After traveling abroad, Dev (Aziz Ansari) returns to New York to take on challenges in his personal and family life, a new career opportunity, and a complex, developing relationship with someone very meaningful to him.

Inspired by the short-lived but beloved show from the 80s, GLOW tells the fictional story of Ruth Wilder (Alison Brie), an out-of-work, struggling actress in 1980s Los Angeles who finds one last chance for stardom when she's thrust into the glitter and spandex world of women's wrestling.

Why would a dead girl lie? 13 Reasons Why is now streaming only on Netflix. Based on the best-selling books by Jay Asher, the Netflix Original Series 13 Reasons Why follows Clay Jensen (Dylan Minnette) as he returns home from school to find a mysterious box with his name on it lying on his porch.

Orphan Black season 5 premieres Saturday, June 10 at 10/9c on BBC America. The clone sisterhood has been through it all together. From assassinations, detrimental illnesses, monitors and accidental murders to suburban drug fronts, kidnappings, male clones and biological warfare - there isn't anything this lot hasn't experienced.
